Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a hands-on, regulated health care profession that focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system – the bones, nerves, muscles, tendons and ligaments. Chiropractors can treat a wide range of health issues, including back pain, neck pain, joint pain in the arms or legs and headaches.

Spinal manipulation is a safe, drug-free way to alleviate pain and muscle tightness in the spine and other joints. It has also been shown to improve the function of the nervous system, which can lead to general wellness improvements.

Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) are trained to assess, diagnose and treat your neuromusculoskeletal condition with a variety of manual techniques, including spinal manipulation. They are also knowledgeable about exercise, nutrition and other ways to enhance your overall well-being. They work collaboratively as part of a patient’s circle of health care team, working closely with physicians and allied healthcare providers such as registered massage therapists and physiotherapists. They may refer to a specialist when appropriate.

Physical Therapy

Depending on your insurance, your physical therapy sessions should be covered by your health provider. However, the cost of the visit will depend on the total amount of time spent with your therapist and a list of billable interventions. During a session, your physical therapist will perform various techniques, including massages, electro stimulation and ultrasound as well as physical exercises to help you recover.

Most medical insurance providers require a referral from an orthopedic doctor or primary care physician before the treatment is covered. This can often result in a high deductible that may make paying for physical therapy sessions a financial burden.

If you have a high deductible, there are ways to reduce the costs of your sessions. For example, you can choose to attend telehealth sessions, which are typically less expensive. You should also pay special attention to your in-person sessions and take notes so you can correctly do the exercises at home.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy uses a variety of techniques to improve circulation and flexibility, reduce pain and stiffness and increase range of motion. Our Massage Therapists are licensed, insured and are trained in the art of therapeutic massage. They work closely with our PT team to help patients with pain and injury recovery. They are trained in kinesiology tape application, both M1 and M2 certified in Graston Technique, and are well versed in active release technique for the head, neck, back and shoulder. They provide status updates to referring providers and keep them updated on each patient’s progress.

The initial visit will include an evaluation, which includes a health history questionnaire, palpation and a range of motion examination. The therapist will discuss treatment goals with the client and determine appropriate techniques. A summary of this evaluation will be sent to the referring provider. Privacy is always maintained and the client is draped appropriately in private rooms.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most effective therapies in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This minimally invasive therapy involves inserting needles into specific “acupoints” on the skin. These trigger the release of your own body’s natural painkillers and help regulate hormones and serotonin, which improves mood.

Acupunture points activate the body’s innate healing abilities called Qi (pronounced chee). This vital energy flows through pathways called meridians and provides nourishment to organs, tissues and cells. It also protects against disease by balancing and building Wei Qi, the body’s protective energy.

Acupuncture may help alleviate back pain, neck pain and headaches, asthma, nausea and vomiting after surgery or chemotherapy, abdominal pain, fibromyalgia, menstrual cramps, arthritis, chronic sinusitis, facial tics, insomnia, infertility, and many more conditions. It is important to find a licensed acupuncturist who uses sterile needles. Ask friends and family for referrals, check with your healthcare insurance carrier and look up acupuncturists in your area.
