1. Burlington Bike Path
One of my preferred activities to accomplish in Burlington, Vermont, is to pedal along the bike paths. The biking track is 7.6 miles long and runs along Lake Champlain. On any given day of the week, both Vermont residents as well as tourists can appreciate this breathtaking trail. The trail starts at Oak ledge Park, which is farther south than Burlington’s lakefront. It’s an amazing trip that will provide your family with lasting recollections. Want to lease a bicycle? Regional Movement has a rental station alongside the waterfront bike path, and it also has a unique bike ferry that ferries you and the bicycle across the island’s Shore Line Path to South Heroes Island.
2. Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
Ben & Jerry’s makes the best ice cream, and its Church Street shop serves scoops, shakes, and other goodies. The location is beautiful and bright, and it smells great inside! It’s now a sandy driveway, but there is a monument recognizing Ben & Jerry’s origins in the 1970s. If you love ice cream, plan a day trip to Waterbury, where the real Ben & Jerry’s factory resides. Take a manufacturing tour, get free scoops of that particular taste, and pay homage in the flavor cemetery, where unsuccessful inventions rest in perpetual tranquility.
3. Hiking Trails
Burlington is lucky for its proximity to the mountains. (Really? A town located between mountains and a huge lake? What’s not to love?) Hikers will enjoy this location. When you are interested in hiking near Burlington, Vermont, you’re given a lot of alternatives considering that there are simply too many great treks nearby. Mt. Philo is a great place for a brief trek with an amazing panorama of the lake. This trek takes place in Charlotte, Vermont, roughly thirty minutes south of Burlington. The trek to Mt. Philo is 1.9 kilometers lengthy and categorized as easy-moderate. Camel’s Hump is home to some of Vermont’s most downloaded hikes, especially for advanced hikers. Taking on this iconic Vermont peak is a lengthy endeavor. The Burrows Trail to the summit is 5 miles long and will take approximately 3-5 hours to hike the round trip.
4. Burlington Beach Day
The downtown waterfront is not the ideal area to swim on Lake Champlain. If you wish to take a dip in the serene lake waters, go to one of the nearby shores. They are all near the city or could be reached by the Burlington Bike Path, which runs along the waterfront. North Beach is the biggest in the area. It has seasonal lifeguards and offers paddleboard and kayak rentals. A fun spot to spend the day in Burlington, Vermont.
5. Go brewery hopping
One of the best Burlington activities is to try our local craft brews. This is a city that adores beer and produces it well! There are several brewers in the city, and beer enthusiasts are likely to want to sample nearly all. You can also sign up for a tour with a guide of Burlington, Vermont’s artisanal breweries. There is also pizza! Do you prefer to plan your local brewery tour? For additional details on the best Burlington, Vermont breweries, see the following article: Top Burlington VT Breweries & Bars.
6. Artsy South End
When touring Burlington, don’t stick to Church Avenue and the main downtown sights. There are many interesting places in town worth visiting. One of the most appealing is the South End, which runs down Pine Street. There are several breweries down here, as well as art galleries that showcase the outstanding local painters. This website provides up-to-date information on open galleries, art events, and other South End Burlington VT attractions. You should add The Soda Plant to your Burlington Bucket List. This is an excellent site to learn about everyday life in Burlington.
7. ECHO
Without a doubt, the ECHO Center is one of Burlington’s top attractions. This is a wonderful science and wildlife museum located on Burlington’s waterfront. This aquarium and museum is especially popular with children, thanks to its interactive displays, a life-size reproduction of an 1876 Lake Champlain shipwreck, and engaging educational films shown in the 3D theater! This cool location also hosts unique events throughout the year. I once went to an awesome Halloween party here!
8. Shelburne Museum
The Shelburne Museum, set on wide, beautiful grounds, includes history, art, and more. It is well worth stopping by, particularly if you are seeking activities you can do in Burlington with children. Exhibits requiring hands-on engagement can be entertaining. These buildings provide a distinct perspective on American history and design.
